LATEST ISSUE: More on taking part in trials. Medtronic to ‘spin out’ its diabetes business. CamAPS is now on iOS in the UK

There’s been a jaw-dropping £100m historic pledge to end T1D, with Diabetes UK and Breakthrough T1D in the US being recipients. There’s also Breakthrough T1D UK’s new 10-year strategy to read.

In terms of what I would call the ‘big players’ there is a lot of quite major news. Medtronic is the main mover. First, in a first, the company has announced a partnership with Abbott. However, it’s also announced that it will be divesting its diabetes business into a new, standalone unit. We’ll have to see how that develops.

In more KIT news, CamAPS is now available on Apple’s iOS platform in the UK. We also have a My Diabetes Kit interview with Rob Hewlett, who had a somewhat dramatic (and even traumatic) experience before getting diagnosed.

We follow up on our feature from the last issue on being a guinea pig, with regards to taking part in trials. In fact, part of the interview with Rob Hewlett is about his taking part in no less than three trials.
