JDRF has a ‘Type 1 diabetes symptoms’ posters which you can apply for and have sent to your local doctor’s surgery for them to display. You can visit their website http://bit.ly/JDRF_poster to order a poster which has the symptoms of type 1 diabetes clearly listed.
Not only for GP’s surgeries, the poster can also be put up in local schools, a work place noticeboard, or even in a shop window. People will often be happy for you to pin it up and the more people that take notice, the closer we get to helping people to understand the onset of type 1.
You can also use social media to make a noise about type 1 diabetes. You can join JDRF UK’s Facebook page http://on.fb.me/JDRF_Facebook and tag yourself in the GP Poster or even make it your profile picture. The more people that understand type 1, the more likely we can prevent people who develop the condition from going into Diabetic Ketoacidosis before they get a diagnosis.
