Covid-19 vaccine advice from Diabetes UK

Diabetes UK has issued comprehensive guidance around the Covid-19 vaccines and what it means for people with diabetes.

People with diabetes are vulnerable to developing a severe illness if they contract coronavirus, and the vaccine is the most effective way to prevent this. Most people with diabetes are in priority group six – people aged 16 to 64 years with underlying health conditions.

Side effects from the vaccine are usually mild, including soreness at the injection site, feeling tired and a headache, and shouldn’t last longer than 48 hours. The vaccine may also lead to higher blood glucose levels for a short time.
