JDRF’s Fusion event is happening soon. Later in the summer there are more Virtual Discovery Days from the charity. The Type 1 charity’s free events will cover pregnancy and managing diabetes at school and university.
Fusion: Type 1 diabetes technology and devices for adults
Saturday, 26 June, 10am – 1.30pm.
This event is open to any adults who are interested in how technology can help them to manage their Type 1. Brought to you by JDRF, Fusion was previously run by INPUT. You will hear about the latest technology and devices from diabetes professionals and the technology companies themselves. By the end of the event you will:
- understand what devices and technology are available to help manage your condition
- find out how to access diabetes technology through the NHS
- meet like minded individuals and hear how they manage their type 1
- meet the medical technology companies themselves and have an opportunity to ask questions
- know what new tech is on the horizon.

The Type 1 pregnancy journey
Sunday, 4 July; 10.30am – 12pm (drop-ins welcome)
Covering the pregnancy journey from planning your family to managing Type 1 while pregnant and when the baby arrives. You will hear from healthcare specialists and participate in a panel discussion with parents discussing their concerns and experiences of managing Type 1.
By the end of the event, you will have:
- a better understanding of how to best manage Type 1 during your pregnancy and beyond
- learnt about the best technology to help you manage Type 1
- a better understanding of CGM technology for pregnant women.

Learning to manage Type 1 diabetes at school and university
Saturday, 4 September; 10.30am–12.45pm (drop-ins welcome)
Learn how to best manage Type 1 diabetes when in a school or university setting. Hear from a panel of healthcare professionals and meet parents and pupils as they discuss their lived experiences of managing Type 1. You will also meet with the medical device companies and learn about available technology.
By the end of the event, you will have:
- a better understanding of how to support your child in primary, secondary and university settings
- an understanding of how to manage your Type 1 when at school and university
- learnt how your school could support students within the education setting
- learnt about the various and current medical devices available for Type 1.
