LATEST ISSUE: Change – starts slow, then moves faster

Things remain exciting in the realm of diabetes tech, and by that I also mean the realm of overall diabetes care. Tools and choices are improving, new medicines are being added and all are getting more sophisticated. In addition, big pharmaceutical companies (‘big pharma’) are keen to be involved. In our KIT report, we look again at some of the movers and shakers involved, and at new kit that has been launched or is coming soon.

As ever, there’s several pages of news and food news as well. Type 1 diabetic and qualified nutritionist explains about the purpose of flavenols in our diets and informs us of the subgroups. Meanwhile, in Making Carbs Count, Judith Ozkan unpacks the many benefits of including soft green herbs in our diets.

A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jackie and Jan, a set of identical twins who both developed Type 1 diabetes but a few years apart. By the ages of 10, their mother had to inject both of them, going back 50-60 years ago. They share their memories with me. – editor Sue Marshall
